Artist Bio
Ginnie Cappaert's captivating art is based on landscapes as a subject, but she is primarily interested in color, texture and abstract forms. She is an artist who paints the natural environment that surrounds her. Ginnie expresses her emotions by creatively interpreting the multitude of colors before her. It is the landscape's imagery and its deep sense of space that she explores in her work by building up thin layers of oil paint and then scraping and dissolving areas, she creates a peaceful and subtle mix of textures and colors.
The skies, the water, and the trees, as well as her Winter travels to New Mexico are her continuing inspiration. The serenity and contemplative moments she experiences are translated into each painting. Her original, authentic, and always colorful paintings reflect the softness of life that she observes. Ginnie often paints in her log cabin studio beside her garden beds that lead to breathtaking water views behind her gallery, Cappaert Contemporary Gallery in Egg Harbor, Wisconsin. She now divides her time spending the winter months in her beloved Santa Fe, New Mexico where she recently opened a gallery, Materiality Fine Art with artists and business partners Blair Vaughn-Gruler and Ernst Gruler. Materiality is open year-round and is just steps off the famous Canyon Road.
